Monster

Escalade headlights beaming down this road
On a street where you will do as told
I do not mock its beauty, all my friends
Only by its values in the end

Suburban sprawl makes it on time
To prune its trees, to clean its streets
But something dark lurks in its light

There's a monster hunting meat
It eats its young and fire it breathes
We try to slay its many heads but know it won't go easy
Swimming across the Atlantic

Well-behaved hausfraus jogging in the street
Dropping names like dead flies at your feet
It's not only a bad thing to conform
Those who don't may wish they weren't born

I never thought I'd see it here
Between these trees, on these streets
But something old we need to fear

There's a monster hunting meat
It eats its young and fire it breathes
We try to slay its many heads but know it won't go easy
Swimming across the Atlantic
