When he stops caring whether he lives or dies

He thought life was all sex, drugs and rock and roll
Till darkness dealt a fatal body blow
He lived life in the fast lane
Never pumped his brakes and died when the crash came
He needed thrill after thrill
Stayed high because his pain was real
He tried to overcome
Seeking life pleasures so the pain would numb
But what's a person to do when
You trying to build a life and you got no blueprint
He's trying to figure it out
With the odds stacked against him living in doubt

Lived reckless met his death in it
Say his name put respect in it

I like to think God got him
Scooped him up when the Devil tried to stop him
He played the cards he was dealt
Overplayed his hand
He needed some help
He needed a real friend
Needed to be here cause his kids need him
We were close as children
Now when the wind blows we feel him
I wish he would've calmed down
I wouldn't have to put it all in a song now
It's his life and his prerogative
And his death I'm just trying stay positive
We all know a hard head
Who died too young
