Wither

I'll wither, without her
Winter winds chill her embrace
I'm uprooting myself to feel
Her graze against my branches once more
There's no light to see by
Just a gray that fades
As my leaves fall away
Frail, collapsed, and fraying
Yearning for her face

I am the autumn leaves knocking at her door
I swirl with rage, caressing the outer frame

My branches snap just short of you
Flail against the dying light
Grasping for a being
Once wholly pure and bright
Roots up heave and dance beneath
The stars that drag you away
And I'm swallowed in the gray
Frail, collapsed, and fraying
Yearning for her face
