Until Then

sometimes I shut my eyes
when the lights are out
I play in my head
all the dreams I dare not say out loud

I turn the clock upside down
in no time I'll sell out to the crowd

but until then
I'll keep empty notebooks underneath my bed
cuz an empty page is just a filled up head
and by the time these days are done and dead
we'll have something left to hold to in memories instead

Sometimes I go outside
When the sun is down
I stare up at the stars
That light the lonely street lights in my town

There's no one but me and me around
All I hear is that quiet ticking sound
A few more hours till daylight is abound

But until then
I'll keep empty notebooks underneath my bed
Cuz an empty page is just a filled up head
And by the time these days are done and dead
we'll have something left to hold to in memories instead

I could wait to feel that lonely tonight
I could wait to reel that line with no bite
I could wait to see the world fall apart
just the way that it was bound to from the start

But until then
I'll keep empty notebooks underneath my bed
Cuz an empty page is just a filled up head
And by the time these days are done and dead
we'll have something left to hold to in memories instead
