Back to the Farm for Christmas

We are heading back to my parent's place
For the happiest time of the year
We pull into their driveway
And my dad offers me a beer

The old HQ's still out the front
He swears he'll get it running someday
He smiles and I am grateful
That things 'round here don't change

What a lovely night we've had
Got the kids sleeping on the floor
As we lay together in my childhood bed
I know that I could never wish for more

We're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas
We're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas

Mum and dad and all the kids
Are up before the Sun
I stumble out late, grab a coffee
And put some cool tunes on

Mum wants Mariah Carey, I play the Darkness, Slade, Paul Kelly
Crank it up with the Pogues
You shoot me a glance and I understand
We need something more festive than the Smith Street Band

We're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas
We're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas

Time for a BBQ, and a morning beer or two
And my uncles to arrive
We take the car down to the back paddock
And we let all the kids have a drive

Well the arvo rolls around, I'm a few pints down
Time for the arguing to start
My grandad thinks it's strange I believe in climate change
But when he leaves we hug

We're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas
We're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas

We're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas
Yeah we're going back to the farm
Back to the farm for Christmas
