The Left Handed Priest

The left-handed Priest knew of duty
He was called as the ritual began
Sage was burnt, offers were laid
They hoped to protect this land

The terrible worm had arisen
Bringing chaos from here to the sea
The man of the cloth he seemed bold and showed strength
But he feared they would never be free
He feared they would never be free

Every man and boy they could muster
With sword and cudgel and stone
They rode out to face down the dragon together
But the priest would face him alone

God played no part in this battle
It was evil and wretched and dire
From a distance the people looked on in horror
While the Priest extinguished the fire
The Priest he extinguished the fire

Fifty years to this day
The tale brings the elders to weep
A left-handed Priest will lead the prayers
In hope that the worm still sleeps
We all hope that the worm still sleeps
