Unraveled

A thread held in defrosted hand is pulled,
Slowly,
Unraveling the frigid textile
Inch by inch.

Frost departs from glass,
Green evades the black,
The howl of wind tempers to a hush;

The buried dead break through the earth and blossom;
The riven floor reforms;
The oculus spies return of red and gold.

Obstinate amid the thaw,
I witness the embroidered snow
Unraveled
