Doors Don't Close

I'm standing at this front porch screen just staring at my keys
It's different than it was before with you not here anymore
But I'll walk right in and leave it open
In the back of my mind, I'm still hoping
You'll come back if I don't close it

I've fixed the lock, I've oiled the hinges
But I keep feeling that resistance
To just do more, to shut this door
The frame was strong made out of stone
But now it's breaking up my home
I tried to make it work from the ceiling to the floor
But what do you do, oh
When doors don't close

Cold wind keeps sneaking in there's some damage I can't fix
But I don't want anyone tonight to help me make it right
So I'll use a blanket to block the breeze
And keep warm with the memories

I've fixed the lock, I've oiled the hinges
But I keep feeling that resistance
To just do more, to shut this door
The frame was strong made out of stone
But now it's breaking up my home
I tried to make it work from the ceiling to the floor
But what do you do, oh
When doors don't close

Every time I try to shut you out, you keep coming back
And it starts all over
Only thing I do is just fool myself, and let you back in
It's easier to hang on than to let go
It's easier to hang on than to let go

I've fixed the lock, I've oiled the hinges
But I keep feeling that resistance
To just do more, I can't shut this door
The frame was strong made out of stone
But now its breaking up my home
I tried to make it work from the ceiling to the floor
But what do you do
But what do you do, oh
When doors don't close
When doors don't close
Doors don't close
