Fresh Sheets (feat. Blake Warry)

I used to wash my sheets once a week
I showered most days
I didn't use a loofah, because they're breeding grounds for bacteria
I wiped 'clean' cutlery with a towel before I used it, because I didn't trust my housemates To wash dishes

I wet-wiped the clothes line before I hung laundry out to dry
I made my bed every single day
I scooped the white blobs out of eggs, and if I was getting someone else to do that for Me, I checked once they were done to make sure they did it properly

Each partner before you was instructed, "Do Not touch me in the shower"
I'd visit with the expectation of clean sheets
I'd subtly inspect the utensils they'd use to cook my food
And if they washed something for me, I'd wash it again when I got home

When I met you, I didn't feel the need to wash the sheets after you'd touched them
In fact, after you'd leave, I'd sleep on your side to inhale what was left of you
I didn't recoil when you'd bump me in the shower
And then scrub you from my skin
I didn't wonder when you'd last changed your sheets

After you left, I waited three months to wash the coat you returned to me
I didn't shower much
I didn't wipe the cutlery, because I didn't use the cutlery, because I didn't eat much
I washed the sheets once they only smelt like me

Now, I wash my sheets once a week
I shower most days
I use a loofah, but I hang it *outside* the shower to dry between uses
I wipe 'clean' cutlery with a towel before I use it, because I still don't trust my Housemates to wash dishes

I wet-wipe the clothes line before I hang laundry out to dry
I make my bed every single day
I scoop the dirt blobs out of eggs, but I've made peace with the white ones
And I love my new partner

But I wonder when he last changed his sheets
