A dream caused panic in the middle of the night
An angel surrounded by a brilliant light
Speaking to the carpenter
Whose face was pale with fright
The message he brought had an emotional stir
A virgin with child could he have possibly heard
An impossible prospect
What was he to do
He'd have to trust in faith or live in doubt
There was no way he could find out
If the woman he would marry
Was bearing another man's child
But the angel has spoken
And made himself clear
That through this child the word of God
Would draw near
A great light is shining in the darkness
The grave night cannot withstand his brightness
Ordained by the Father up in heaven
Unto us a son is given

With his reputation and hers on the line
Who could truly believe such a miraculous sign
After living in the silence for 400 years
And now through this child
Would the word of God appear
So he took Mary home and made her his wife
Prepared for the birth of a new little life
Trusted that God had a plan in all of this
Why had he chosen this family so small?
In a back town a carpenter he had chosen to call
And a girl who'd be scared what the people would think
Such a humble beginning
For the man who'd be the king
