Christmas in Talavera
Who's the presents on the table hope they not for me
You know I love surprises put em away where I can't see
I'm not ungrateful just love the fact someone thought of me
It's tha time of year when Christmas and my birthday fall in
Early nights sky when tha frosts dominates ya morning
Neighbour skates across tha floor windscreen iced cars are stalling
With nothin on their mind but counting last days of work
Offices parties in abundance schedules loaded and about to burst
Talkin bout who ordered their turkey and their trimmings first
Everybodies dressing casual some in funny festive shirts
With nothin but tha classics on the radios
Mariah was the last ain't nothing later coming close
I ain't tryna do one but if do just let me know
Coz Last Christmas reminds me of my younger days
Way before the year was on the number plates
Back when shell suits double denim was the craze
And if you wanna watch a film at home it was video you had to wait
All you saw was Biro in the argos book
Like I was deprived I was beggin mum to look
She would remind of her childhood its like they were overlooked Damn
Pops would take me out just to shop for mum
Mum would do the same but had tha most already done
Sworn to secrecy at early age I succeeded on
And that's why I probably like surprises my house was full of them
Pops would take me out just to shop for mum
Mum would do the same but had tha most already done
Sneaking round like I was Santa life of the only son
Visiting big department stores up and down escalators it was fun
They had Tinsel everywhere filling up the stores
Snow falling people rushing through the sliding doors
Big boxes wrapped in ribbons carols singing wishing love to you and yours
Back at home tha turkey seasoned relatives are on their travels
Beds are prepped stockings hanging up from their door handles
Tree so big pyjamas caught up like I'm stuck in brambles
Playing round like hooligans at tha World Cup Final
Youngers like holdup we ain't at home how can Santa find you
I'm thinkin of my birthday list and what I missed hope Santa comes thru
Feel the love you know it's good let it all surround you
Celebrating with family remember those ain't here their vibes around you
You know I love surprises put em away where I can't see
I'm not ungrateful just love the fact someone thought of me
It's tha time of year when Christmas and my birthday fall in
