Orange Ya Glad I Didn't Say I'm Sorry

Hampton park 6 o'clock the sun has begun
To rest for what will feel like forever
A man and a woman sit in the grass together close enough
To be sharing the same breaths of air in their conversation
The man is speaking of the future as if he's seen
It happen already the woman listens
She nods reluctantly

852 miles away there is the sound of gunshots and police sirens
5 9 millimeter rounds strike the drivers
Side door of a gray pickup truck killing the man inside
The police search for hours scouring the streets of a town
Which no longer harbor the gunman
He will never be found

The man and the woman in hampton park will never hear these shots
And they will never know the name of the victim
But the news will reach them in a sort a abstract and detached
Talking point ending in wow that sucks
They continue with their day until tomorrow
Where the woman will decide she does not love him anymore
And will leave him forever
The victims name is Angel

I will continue to believe that I don't exist in this world
And these things will never effect me in my life
This will weigh on me every day
But I will never be aware of it I am blissfully ignorant
Until the day comes
Where I must look the horrors of this existence in the face with a smile
I am not better than these tragedies and I am not worse
I am not better and I am not worse
