A Minor Spoken Word

We all had it in us
Kindness and care
But it only shows for some
When they feel scared

Or is when they know
They'll need a return
Is it all for all
Or is it still all for one

Is it a sense of community
That got us here
Or is isolation
Driven by fear

Is buying local
A show of support
Or is convenient
Now you're stuck in your fort

Of love and security
And room to feel blue
Are we in this together
Or is it still about you

This little place is so big that it's small
It can feel confusing or mysterious
And it can feel nothing at all

Sometimes it's warm
Can make me feel safe
But mostly it throws me all over the place

It barely makes sense
It messes my head
It's easier to feel when I'm numbed out in bed

But I have to be woke up
And try not to choke up
When I think of the creatures who constantly tear up

This delicate land
That conditioned to stand
Against the division and hatred

The plague it called Man
