The Scream

Infestations of words scream you up at night
Endless fake problems getting brought to the light
And if you can ever make yourself get out of your bed
You know you're gonna fail, you can't get it out of your head
And it's not like you're important or your gripes really exist
How can such an active brain be so truly selfish
Everything in your mind is vain, petty, and trite
It's all the same during the day and it's the same during the night
And they say to write it down in your sad book every day
But you'd rather just write the same songs in some different ways
And then lose your place and hate yourself all over again
When you realize you're pushing it all off in all of their heads
So take your shitty thing and dip it down in irony
Cause it's a weakness to show the world a hint of sincerity
And it's easier to scream all of your thoughts into a void
Than to take any real steps to make yourself less paranoid
It may not be the healthiest thing
To need to be talked down
All the time but you know
In the back of your mind
That you may never be able to quell that relentless scream
