Something As Simple As Grace

The greatest of all gifts
From the greatest of all givers
Never has there been a gift more rejected
It's the same for everyone
For everyone's the same
But it will change the lives of those who accept it
It was placed under a tree
Driven up dark Calvary
Taking all the scorn and shame from the scoffers
The greatest of all crimes
For the crimes of all mankind
To a Holy God there His life He offered

It's the gift that keeps on giving
So that we can go on living
And walking in the riches of His grace
From all sin His blood would clean us
Never more to come between us
If we'd just allow this gift to have its place
By grace alone then we could serve Him
Ones who so much don't deserve Him
I guess it's why we find it so hard to embrace
But if we would just believe it
He sure wants us to receive it
And enjoy something as simple as grace

This gift I did receive
The moment I believed
But I tried so many ways to repay Him
But through grace I came to learn
That it never could be earned
And how He sees me will not change
Though I betray Him
We're earthen vessels every one
He will fill us when we come
Emptied of ourselves leaving not a trace
Think of those who we would bless
Filled with fruits of His righteousness
When we employ something as simple as His grace

It's the gift that keeps on giving
So that we can go on living
And walking in the riches of His grace
From all sin His blood would clean us
Never more to come between us
If we'd just allow this gift to have its place
By grace alone then we could serve Him
Ones who so much don't deserve Him
I guess it's why we find it so hard to embrace
But if we would just believe it
He sure wants us to receive it
And enjoy something as simple as grace
