Long Road to Christmas

That happy spirit gliding through the winter air
With the presents sitting underneath the tree
Wondering which of them are gonna be for me
But none of them have got my name anywhere
In fact there ain't no presents and there ain't no tree
And there ain't no spirit or no Christmas glee

I hear those church bells ringing
And all the children singing
Out across the land and sea
And when that snow starts falling
I sense Christmas calling
Out to everyone apart from me

But there are things I can't control
Life has been taking its toll
The carol book's got words to say
But the songs won't play

Happy households in the windows that I see
Feeding figgy to the piggy before leaving for a ciggy

No door is willing to accept my key
So it's another year of looking in from off the street
