When the Cat's Away

The fat orange cat
Lapped up his milk
He hated the mice
That lived in the walls
He wasn't nice to them

Didn't see them as equals
He saw them as playthings
He would casually hurt them
And that would make him laugh

Then one day he turned his back
On the tiny cute mice
That lived in the wall
Behind the little wall crack

The mice conspired against him
Pinned him to his deeds
They aimed to kill him
They thought it would make them free

The cat remained defiant
You'll never cut me down
He growled through his teeth

You will die and I will remain
To ride on the work of your lives
Through all time
Everything you do is mine

Look what you've all done
You can't get rid of me

I'll plant you next the roses
Your only hope will be to grow back
As a thorn on the bushes
That's your only chance of hurting me
Because this is my domain
You will see
You will see

When the cat's away
The mice will play
The pieces move on their own
Night turns to day
Send the cat away

Into the cold dark night
He is the cold dark night
And you're his air
He breathes you in everywhere

Your are the cheese on which he feeds
You are the air in which his fear breeds
