Vows

It's a strange but a comforting feeling
To find solace behind my steering wheel
So I drive and I sort my thoughts
I search for something real
This bag of bones I've borrowed
It's temporary, one day it'll be ash
The memories of friends and the good we've had
Remind me: not even memories last
While I'm here, for my short while
I'll do my damnedest just to bring you a smile
I can't afford many gifts, so I'll give you my time
I'll do my best to come out of my shell
I'll approach strangers and introduce myself
I'm no smooth talker so I'll listen instead
I won't get so worked up over the things I can't change
It's so much harder to do than to say
I'll be a man and I'll keep my word
I'll be a decent guy despite what you may have heard
My door is open, you're welcome here
If I drink too much I'll apologize
I'm twice as foolish as I am wise
Soon I'll be wiser. At least I will try
I won't get so worked up over the things I can't change
It's so much harder to do than to say
It's so much harder to do than to say
