Master of Medusa

Legend recalls me, for I'm its master
Keeping the head of the snake-haired spellcaster
Many I've seen frozen, hardened where they stand
Never knowing the nature of what's in my command

Fear lurks in the monster's eyes that end your life on sight
Everything you thought had died is brought into the light
Terror so primal and dark, turned to stone where you had stood
Or the fear will stop your heart before the turning ever could

Used through the ages, wondered what could be
Lurking behind her eyes is curiosity
Turned it to face me; some claim suicide
It's not a demon, but an innocent bride

Fear lurks in the monster's eyes that end your life on sight
Everything you thought had died is brought into the light
Terror so primal and dark, turned to stone where you had stood
Or the fear will stop your heart before the turning ever could

Her face is seen when you're not afraid
Death is so patient; a promise is made
With a kiss on her lips, she's claimed by the sea
Who will she torment; never to be me

Fear lurked in the monster's eyes that end your life on sight
But all of my madness has died, nothing to bring to light
Terror so primal and dark won't affect me where I stood
Nor the love within my heart, for the turning never could
