Tears Of Laughter

I just flew in and man are my arms are tired
As a young boy I was inspired
By comedians I saw on my TV
The lighter side of life was opened to me

Whenever dark clouds would roll in
Laughter became my medicine
When the cold cruel world attacked my innocence
My sense of humor came to my defense

I laughed so hard my stomach would hurt after
And I cried tears of laughter

I still recall the look on daddy's face
As he drove off in his car that foggy day
I knew right away right there and then
I'd never see him again

For years we struggled to get by
My mother, little brother and I
But at night when we'd watch those funny shows
Our troubles flew away on wings of jokes

We laughed so hard our stomachs would hurt after
And we cried tears of laughter

When I grew up and raised a family
It brought back all those childhood memories
It was almost like being a kid again
Except knowing what I'd learned from way back then

So I taught my kids one thing they would need
Besides how to write and how to read
When dark clouds come up on the rise
Always turn to the lighter side of life

Well we laugh so hard our stomachs will hurt after
And we cry tears of laughter
