Homegrown
Once upon a time back in two thousand nine
We made enemy combatants on Blackwater's dime
In foreign areas. Not hilarious
Play a sad sad song on a tiny Stradivarius
But now it's the future! And we're much more efficient
Ran it through the computer, and to the data we listened
It said in order to create a permanent police state
We would need more terrorists than even we could create
In the middle east. So a scheme was reached
To create baby bin ladens in the name of peace
'Cause if you want to strip away people's liberty
You need all the people scared of an enemy
And one so insidious, could strike from within us
So we'll need even more defense spending to win this
Lockheed and GE getting paid with the swiftness
War is a racket and it's very good business
And it's just so damn easy to make little jihadis
When you're taking your human rights cues from the Saudis
Rip 'em from their parents at the age of three
Lock 'em up in dog cages, preschool PTSD
In the land of the free, and the home of the brave
This ain't an abstract allegory like plato's cave
This is reality and it's happening today
War crimes from El Paso to Monterrey
That's the recipe you see, the point is the cruelty
So that when they grow up their only recourse can be
One born out of anger at the lack of empathy
Turn the poor huddled masses into Timothy McVs
Refugees just seeking a less shitty life
Now radicalized by the radical right
'Cause when the moneyed ruling class just isn't that bright
What they need is an enemy to fight
We're making homegrown terrorists
We got a homegrown terrorist off the streets
Now I'm a homegrown terrorist
One man's terrorist is another man's freedom fighter
I despaired at what my country became
these evil deeds being done in my name
Vote for new assholes, but shit stays the same
Senatorial jackals with nary a shame
While cashing fat lobby checks to privatize the
Pursuit of happiness, your life, and liberty
When prisons are incentivized we don't leave
Don't mistake us for saps even though we're bereaved
Fill the cages, fill your pockets, guilt's subjective, see?
Our desired metric is your max occupancy
No room for sympathy in this perverted justice system
Cages built for profit need warm bodies to go in them
Took the grift, and we graft it onto CPB
Our ICE is on display for the whole damn world to see
Border policy from reality TV directors
"Do that but with kids" like it was Tiny Toon Adventures
And as the scheme expands they unfold their deadly plots
To turn the tiny toddlers into true terror tots
No mothers and fathers, just chainlink, bare floor, cots
Alone with their frustrations and their darkest deadly thoughts
And yet we are all taught no matter what evils come of it
Only a true villain would stand in the way of profit
So they said come off it; we all can be bought, kid
And that's when my mental den the switch within it got flipped
Second amendment's right there to fight tyranny
And Y'all-Qaeda sits right here, commits atrocities
Selling refugees to the friends of Jeff Epstein
"No need to track em when you traffic em" is their theme
So I headed down to Dick's, bought the AR-15
Kevlar body armor and some spare magazines
Detention facility, popped off rounds 'til they flee
Then I opened up the cages and I set the kids free
And that's why they're here for me
We made enemy combatants on Blackwater's dime
