My Long Ago Life

Took a train to the plane and a left my old life
It was hard there was pain there were tears in my eyes
So much change straight away after half my lifetime
Need to stand like a man through the lows and the highs
I started many fires that i couldn't put out so i let them burn let them burn let them burn
I had to many desires that i couldn't control no i didn't learn i didn't learn

Pray today fade away let the clock just take me
Breaking bread with my heart that almost killed me
Meditate then create as i write down my dreams
Going deep underneath hope to find something worthy
I'm a million miles away from god and a home now i got to earn got to earn
I can hardly smile need a drink and a smoke and trip around the world

My long ago life
A little foggy at times
I was wrong and was right
Just wanted a good fight
My long ago life
Lucky me i survived
Bet you thought i would die
Now i'm more than alive

Found a friend with a pen at the end of the road
Told me write down my sins turn then into gold
Said the guilt that you built won't set you free
The truth that you seek will erase the need
For alcohol the sex and the drugs and the dollar bill the dollar bill
Castles will fall and we all will have to come together for goodwill

My long ago life
A little foggy at times
I was wrong and was right
Just wanted a good fight
My long ago life
Lucky me i survived
Bet you thought i would die
Now i'm more than alive

My long ago life
A little foggy at times
I was wrong and was right
Just wanted a good fight
My long ago life
Lucky me i survived
Bet you thought I would die
Bet you thought I would die
Bet you thought I would die
Bet you though I would die
Now I'm more than alive
