The Black Hole Stream

I came across the black hole stream
I came across the water
I heard them whisper and try to redeem
There's no debt that we owe her

For two decades and one more year
I lived under the waves
In a shack of seashells and mist and fear
Among hundreds of silent graves

When I once was young, at the age of fourteen
I felt these strange sensations
I rose above the ocean green
Terrified of suffocation

Sparks flew from my fingers as my fear increased
And the ink-black sky caught fire
All the fish came up to the surface
That met the fishermen's desire

As I lay on my bed to regain my strength
They sweet-talked my mother and bribed her
So she locked me up and would't let me out
Until the heat that I wove became brighter

The village got rich as my body got weak
But my rage and my anger ran higher
Until one night I broke free and I tore it all down
And the village at the stream caught fire

They came for me at the black hole stream
They came into the water
Fleeing the flames and the smoke and the smut
I sank down dreaming of this slaughter
