I lay this peaceful patch of greenery
A backdrop of maddening domestic scenery weighing in
On a ratio far too greater than the lands that we let mother nature tend
We need a revolution that will allow a chance for broken soul to mend
On this climb up a steep cliffside the treeroots are our best friends
The grassroots are shallow
We need a movement with a taproot
We gotta get deep down underfoot if we plan to undermine
This toxic social paradigm
That alienates people from their true self
Locked inside a house where I live in here and everything else is out there
Way out there over yonder in the land of I don't care
What kind of chemicals are in the food I eat
The clothes I wear
My drinking water
My breathing air
I don't care what effect I have on the planet
I want the grass in my lawn to be uniform
I don't care if the weeds are trying to perform
An act of ecological succession
I treat them with aggression
Aha now let me tell you a story
A little account of herbal glory
Your worst wounds can be treated
By a weed you never guessed you wouldve needed
Let me tell you it's a beautiful view
When you realize edible plants are surrounding you
We gotta build this world anew
Build soil
And maybe let the knotweed grow right through the concrete
