Mamu and Friends

You see, when you ask why something happens
How does a person answer 'why something happens?'

Mamu and friends thought they could get away
They didn't know enough
'bout the game they would play
They tried their best to not go astray
But there were too many
Feelings to convey
Now Mamu finds that he's all alone
The friends were never there
All there was, was a hole
Deep inside that he could never fill
So he looked for a softer way
The result was nil
Mamu knows now
He barked up the wrong tree
He didn't know it then
But Mamu could've been free

Here's to Mamu and all of his friends
All they ever wanted was to live till the end
But how could they have ever been killed?
They were never born; it was Mamu's own will

Mamu remembers standing there, glass in hand
Not knowing that the moment
Was the end of his plan
Lost in the shadows of the wreckage of the past
Mamu recognized
That nothing ever lasts
Mamu must now follow his own decree
Now it's too late
But Mamu could've been free

Here's to Mamu and all of his friends
Not one of them ever had a shoulder to lend
He sat there alone and on himself he spied
To find the little bits of him that survived

To reach the now
One has to experience pain
And one has to inflict pain
And you can't change any one of these things
Because then
You wouldn't reach the now

After all that had happened
He was told he was filth
He was sawing at the ladder
That he once had built
His feelings were real, but that's all there was
Feelings couldn't save him, that's nature's law
Mamu wished that from himself he could flee
The truth is that Mamu stopped himself
From ever being free

He thought of his friends and how he paid the price
By destroying himself right before his own eyes
Then he realized that he wasn't real
He had hoodwinked himself
And reality had disappeared
