Salt

I've been sanding this same piece of metal
Going on 3 hours now
My pupils dilate
Drift in and out of focus
My mind drifts and sinks like a ship
To crash beneath your waves
You move so fast to get through the day
But sometimes it feels like since you left
I can speak my dreams then hold my breath

You've been spending all your free time trying to build wings
And fly straight at the sun
Trying to catch a current
Or try to coast out West
In search of peace or the second best sunsets
Because I need to believe what those authors wrote to me
But sometimes it seems like since you left
I can speak my dreams then hold my breath
