Tug of War

I always thought tug of war was my favorite game
So I could show the boys I am all the same
So I could prove to them that a girl could be just as strong

Then in high school I wanted to join the football team
So I could show them how it's done
I just wanted to be seen
But I had to fight to be seen from a little girl to a teen
Cause this is our reality

Now I'm standing here all the same
Still playing tug of war this never ending game
And I'm wondering if things are gonna change
I'm so sick of this twisted game

Now I'm almost twenty-one still playing these same old games
Searching for anyone to help me out this maze
But I gotta fight to be seen like that little girl or that teen
Cause this is a girls reality

How do I move on when there's so much to unlearn?
Did you think I was someone you could walk on?
I'm so sick of these twisted games

And I'm still standing here all the same
Still playing tug of war this never ending game
And I'm wondering if things are gonna change
I'm so sick
I'm still sick of this game
And I'm still standing here all the same
Still playing tug of war this never ending game
And I'm wondering if things are gonna change
I'm so sick of this twisted game

I always thought tug of war was my favorite game
So I could show the boys I am all the same
So I could prove to them that a girl could be just as strong
That a girl is just as strong
That I could be just as strong
That I am just as strong
