Struggles of the New Cement

Megan is just fine, in line, she's doing fantastic
The lopsided scribes are breaking their backs in
So her crimes they seem way too drastic
We all know that she's in charge

These little men, they tell, all of their stories
Of their yet to come fame and their high school glories
To send them off to distant lands
Will be be on all our minds again
And settle for this selfish call
We'll stay on track and never fall

The hours pass and the days they stay
To feel forthright and creep up by
The lighted signs and cryptic nights
Through treasured isles and crooked smiles
She waits to sell and waits awhile
To fire on like the sun

And I'm stuck in the same old places
My rocking chair cool and old fashioned faces
My distant hellos and too ready goodbyes
Are keeping them back and off to the side
For now

So I guess when all the potential
Just slips through the cracks in and the
Benchmark is too high for us
To promise to stay is
Too high for us to go away

The hours pass and the days they stay
To feel forthwright and creep up by
The lighted signs and cryptic nights
Through treasured isles and crooked smiles
She waits to sell and waits awhile
To fire on like the sun
