Ebb and Flow

This feels familiar, like an old coat that I
Can not throw away; it represents my time
Confidence strengthens, empathy weakens
Because you know
Because you think
Because you form
I saw you and me in a scene that seemed like a movie
But we were older and shells of ourselves
You were pointing your finger and I was backed
And defending myself
How'd it get to this state? What did we propagate?
Because I can allow myself to work with the shadow

Everyone will sink into patterns that define you
The closest thing to conscious thought are choices you forgot

I fear that these scenes will repeat, in spite of my action
And you and I will grow to love the acting of repressed potential

Reflected light in eye, a song as lullaby
Infant do not fear, the universe is here

Live another life that's yours and not yours
Stepping down into the questions that push us out
Of anything but growth, anything but infinite
