Dekimasu できます - Let's Learn Japanese

When I was a kid, after school, I'd go straight to the TV
Watch Sailor Moon, battle it out
And I grew up learning just how to say "thank you" and "sorry"
There's nothing to worry about

And all of the ends of my books
Had that same type of wide-eyed girl
Drawn in anime style
Don't really know how I ended up so fascinated with this
It must've taken a while
And now I wanna learn the language
Is it too late for me to try this?

Try not to worry
I'm taking it day by day with themed vocabulary
New things are scary
But if I just lose my way
I consult my dictionary

There's so many people in the world
And I wanna understand what makes us human
So I'm learning a new language
With the help that I can manage
できるかな？
もっとべんきょうしよう
がんばります！

If I am allowed to go further
Conjugation is murder in any other language
And most of the time I just blurt out the first thing I think of
And then assess the damage

And I have to know if I'm talking politely or casually
Both are very different
It's just that the order of sentences is flipped 180°
No subject-verb agreement
Still really wanna know Japanese, please?

ひらがな カタカナ you can learn them easy
Memorize some good expressions that are customary

しつれいします - excuse me
おひさしぶりよ - long time, no see
じゃまた またね - see you again
Things you can say when you're meeting a friend

しんぱいしないよ！
まいにちゆっくりたんごをまなんでいる
あたらしいことはこわい
