Moondog

Our story starts in a pub near the green
On the cloudiest night I ever did see
And at the bar, a man starts to weep
Such a sorry sad sight you never did see

And so the barman sighs and he steps outside
Looks to the sky and he starts to cry
"Oh, send me some joy to save this sad night!"

Moondog, howl for me
Let me bathe in that sweet melody
Moondog shines so bright
We'll be rich while we're poor tonight

Out of the sky, a star starts to fall
Straight from the moon to answer his call
It blazes and shines through the darkest of clouds
And as it gets closer, a "Yip!" comes through loud

So the barman gasps and prays to God
"Oh my good lord, oh my good lord
Have you sent us a dog?"

Moondog, howl for me
Let me bathe in that sweet melody
Moondog shines so bright
We'll be rich while we're poor tonight

Up on his hind legs, our dog starts to dance
Dances into the pub with a skip and a prance
All the barman hears as he follows him through
Are shouts of delight when the drunks see him too

And so with a wag, this sad night is saved
All the patrons are joyous though they're badly behaved
Through the debauchery, they were glad all the while
For when Moondog comes, you'll remember to smile

Moondog, howl for me
Let me bathe in that sweet melody
Moondog shines so bright
We'll be rich while we're poor tonight

Moondog, howl for me
Let me bathe in that sweet melody
Moondog shines so bright
We'll be rich while we're poor tonight
