The Sea Bride

The tide of the sea surrounded my feet
As the ship sailed out of sight
I thought of entering the water myself
But the anchor still held me tight

And I saddled the fence of life and death
For the beautiful story it told
I was a visitor here that's all I wanted
To be left out in the cold

It's time for me to move along
To come home with the tide
It's time for me to get in the boat
Time to say goodbye

It's time for the child to join the man
To live not just survive
It's time for the man to stand at the shore
And revisit the sea his bride

The weight of it all was breaking my back
I struggled to catch my breath
The water outlived its beautiful symbol
As it slowly crept round my neck

And like a sailor that's torn from his wife and kids
You too had been stolen away
And just like a rock that falls into the depth of it all
It was impossible for you to stay

It's time for me to move along
To come home with the tide
It's time for me to get in the boat
Time to say goodbye

It's time for the child to join the man
To live not just survive
It's time for the man to stand at the shore
And revisit the sea his bride

I dried myself off and laced up the boots
And decided to live a lie
As the warmth of the world had touched my skin
I felt nothing for the freezing child

Who without the anchor that had bound him
To the safety of the shore
Had drifted me to purgatory
To reside with no feeling no cause

It's time for me to move along
To come home with the tide
It's time for me to get in the boat
Time to say goodbye

It's time for the child to join the man
To live not just survive
It's time for the man to stand at the shore
And revisit the sea his bride
