My Hearth

Won't you come lay by my hearth?
I know the heart grows tired.
I know you walked ten miles.
Toss all your bad days in my hearth.
I'll wait while they burn with you,
Only if you want me to.
Fell asleep again by my hearth.
Flames not concerned with me,
But they keep the pain at ease.
Dig through the ashes for my heart.
It needed its time in the fire,
Couldn't break it if the flames rise higher.
But now I need the heat,
That comes from hands and teeth.
The cold outside is such a liar,
I got a place right by my fire.
If you need.
And if not I hope we meet again someday.
The cold outside is such a liar,
I got a place right by my fire.
If you need.
If you need.
Won't you come lay by my hearth?
