This Island

So much to say
With no way to vocalise
Looking at the world
With more or less open eyes
These words spent years
At the tip of my tongue
Now you all gonna hear
From the top of my lungs
Day's frustrations
Turned to stanzas
'Til I make vocation
Repeating mantras
Couple years
I was feeling anxious
Couple years
Paralysed by sadness
And I still don't understand
What I'm supposed to do here
Twenty five years
And I feel brand new here
It seems like
No-one's got a clue here
Running round
Just to cop some new gear
Out the window's not as green as I'd like
Street furniture makes figures in this light
Thoughts always been darker at night
Pay too much mind to the things I don't like but

This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
Most the time I wanna be somewhere else
But I'll be here 'til I find some wealth

And my salary's okay
But by the fourth I'm still jonesing for payday
I dunno think I need me a vacay
Spent too many years with the ammy and AK
Been working but work is just that
My weekdays are just that
By the time I get back, my brain is empty, so
Here's to forty more years of that but

This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
Most the time I wanna be somewhere else
But I'll be here 'til I find some wealth

This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
This island is eating itself
Meanwhile it's depleting my health
Most the time I wanna be somewhere else
But I'll be here 'til I find some wealth
