Tiny Trails

cats and dogs raining down
we're in no mood to be
drowning in Scotland's tears

so we give in
fifty pounds
for a warm bed and
a dry ground

sugar you're mine
in the evening light
we lay under sheets
watching quiz shows on tv

mine the brisk scottish night
we wake as the dawn creeps along
the static coastline

tiny trails winding round
rolling hills
absent crowds
we drive down for hours

so we pull in
pitch our tent
on a ridge
overlooking the ocean

sugar you're mine
when the midges bite
and we zip the flaps tight
to escape those damned flies
the brisk scottish night
we wake as the dawn creeps along
the static coastline
