A Screen Worth Watching
Pacing through the hallway watching people so afraid
To find out what might take them one step closer to the grave
But I was born a native to this God forsaken place
Where my Mother spent her nights and my Grandfather his last days
And all the morphine and the vaccines that help weather the storm
Have brought me to the same small room they've trapped be in before
Keep me safe, keep me warm, give me the strength to carry on
I want to shut it all out
(I want to shut it all out)
I want to turn away
(I want to turn away)
I want to see this place of life and death in the right way
Because people only seem to pray when they need it most
With the LCD screen dimming there's a lump inside my throat
And I'm tired of vending machines and the subtle smell of bleach
And the pills that keep making you a wreck
It's the only place on Earth where somebody says goodbye
And another opens their eyes for the first time
All the plants by your bedside have died
And there's family in the waiting room clinging to life
I haven't found the time yet to cry
Because the bed that you're in's not your own and it doesn't feel right
They flicked through your notes once or twice
Came in the night, tracked all your vital signs
I haven't found the time yet to cry
I've been busy just watching the minutes pass by
And all the plants by your bedside have died
There's family in the waiting room clinging to life
I haven't found the time yet to cry
Because the bed that you're in's not your own and it doesn't feel right
And all the plants by your bedside have died
There's family in the waiting room clinging to life
I haven't found the time yet to cry
Because the bed that you're in's not your own and it doesn't feel right
All the plants by your bedside have died
(They finally gave me)
And there's family in the waiting room clinging to life
(A Screen Worth Watching)
I haven't found the time yet to cry
(They finally gave me)
Because the bed that you're in's not your own and it doesn't feel right
(A Screen Worth Watching)
All the plants by your bedside have died

They finally gave me
