Aurora Vines

Sunup on grapes the band sets up
New arrangements unfold on site
Vault awake at once before this
Uncommenced vine points to the light

Aurora Now, find exquisite
So graciously, from root to rind
Reborn in us, the carbon eon
And music now, elephantine

What could become
Of this cultivation by rhyme
Whatever could have been
Still connected, sublime

A vintner's quartz, anthozoan
New buds blessing peppery spines
Toothsome story lives and grows
Sweet cicely and perfume climbs

What could become
Of this recurved pantomime
Whatever could have been now
Still hasn't run out of time

The roots on the road-bank
Edge to the conclusion
Unfinished in the ground
Unraveled resolution
What would this life be
Without the courage
To attempt anything
Anything at all

Dulcet reaches at the ready
Green, emergent huddling coil
Pomes and drupes appoint the ridges
Shoot up tall from a prism soil

What could become
Of this cultivation by rhyme
Whatever could have been
Still growing, on-the-vine

The roots on the road-bank
Edge to the conclusion
Unfinished in the ground
Unraveled resolution
What would this life be
Without the courage
To attempt anything
Anything at all
