Grown

I'm grown now

I'm grown now, left that college life alone now
I'm more accustomed to keeping the lower profile
Handling business, I ain't out here acting so wild
A welcomed change from the ways of my old style
Committed to being a hero to my own child
Even if her moms won't let me see her for a long while
I take it in stride, at some point we'll reconcile
Differences, and then I'll get to see my daughter smile
The young me would've been bitter and hit the bottle
Drown my frustrations in liquor until the cab's arrival
But this the grown me, check the testimony
The composer and orchestrator of my own recital
And I hope it brings you love and some laughs
I invite your spirit to kick its feet up and relax
Take a sip of this R&B boom bap jazz
For the flavor in your ear when you hear it on wax

I'm grown now, but this grind it doesn't slow down
Despite a pandemic, I still got the know how
To stay creatively driven and maintain control while
The lack of gigging has got me mostly at home now
It kinda works out, needed a break from the fast pace
Constantly swallowed up in the rat race
Finally a moment for us all to catch our breath
Rather than spend all our energy til there ain't any left
Had to let go of this Peter Pan syndrome
I'm in my prime, it was time to fully get grown
And quarterback my career like I'm running the wish bone
If it wasn't clear before, I'll for sure be making it known
That this what I was put on this earth to do
What I been striving for since birth to do
From a gradual ascension to this reintroduction
You're rocking with Bennett Roth, no further interruption
