The Star Optician

I went out one night
The moon lit bright
I just felt alright
The snow was white and the city light
Shone in all their might
So, the sky was dark and the moon just smiled
I looked up at the sky
I couldn't see the stars
Despite my effort to try

I went to see the optician
She showed me some letters on a board
She was cute and she looked at me
I thought
"Oh my Lord!"
I forgot the reason I was here
But my vision was a so bad case
I told her it's enough for me
Just to see her face

And her pony tail with the yellow thread
Just flew around
And I fell in love with her
'forgot about the stars
I walked around- dreamed a lot
And visited some bars
Her eyes were blue
And her lips were red
I went home (I went home)
To my empty bed

Next time we met
The glasses were made
She tested them on me
Please read to me- and tell me then
What letters do you see
The letters where there
I looked at them
They didn't mean a thing
For me they said
"I love you - I want to give you a ring"

The lines got smaller and I tried to see
The tiny text below
I smiled and said
"I love you -
This text has a special glow"
She laughed and and said
No! No! No!
That's not what you see
But now you see the stars again
Wherever you will be

And her pony tail with the yellow thread
Just flew around –
And I fell in love with her
'forgot about the stars
I walked around
Dreamed a lot
And visited some bars
Her eyes were blue
And her lips were red
I went home (I went home) -
To my empty bed

I went home (I went home) -
To my empty bed
