Melatonin, Rewritten (live from quarantine)

Sam looks over his book
And meets her eyes
He blushes, she smiles
Window panes paint his boyish grin
Her heart skips and she hides it

Three weeks later
They're running the street
She wears dresses
Outside it's forty degrees
He asks her why
She just smiles

He walks the dog
She turns out the lights
Brick walls
Red wine
They take melatonin
And climb in bed

Three weeks later
She walks out of her shop
Turns the key
Dumps the mop
And he wasn't there to walk her home

She walks the dog
He turns out his lights
Brick walls
Red wine
She takes melatonin
And he climbs alone in his bed
At least that's what she expected

He hops of the train in Brooklyn New York
And cuts to a corner store
He buys the paper
And walks to the shore
She's sitting in a white dress
She walked towards the rivers edge
He watches her end it

White flash
Black sky
