Petals

She was an artist at heart
Made beautiful art
She was a great friend, mother, and wife
Lived a beautiful life
Gone too soon

She was a flower that bloomed
And touched all our lives
But gave away all her petals
And that's why she died

Where those petals fall
That is all
You leave behind

So don't get stuck in your mind
Life isn't some ladder you've got to climb

Because

You're loved and you matter
Stop climbing that ladder
And look to the sky and you'll see

That there's just one life you're in it
Don't think for a minute
That that doesn't mean anything

New generation we want
Instant gratification
We want fame and fortune
At the expense of ourselves

Stop, breath, and open your eyes
If you don't time's passing by
Don't forget everyone dies

And you're loved and you matter
Stop climbing that ladder
And look to the sky and you'll see

That there's just one life you're in it
Don't think for a minute
That that doesn't mean anything

Everyone's eyes a little wetter
Lives a little better
Because those petals fell
What story will they tell?
