Planned Personhood

My identity is not identical
This new entity is now political
This century has turned me digital
Quite possibly has turned me prodigal

From where I came I have now learned
What I would become had I not explored
Had I not embraced, had I not grown
Had I not taste the person I'd become

I'm not the same, I tell ya I have changed
Not the same, I tell ya I have changed
I'm not the same, I tell ya I have changed
Not the same, I tell ya I have changed

You cut your hair, shave your face and then
Cut that attitude, that'll do
And you go to church
You go to work
And you crunch the numbers
They don't add up

You're not built that way, make you guilt
For just being someone, being somewhat
Off of the path, butterfly effect
And you find you're someone else than was planned

I'm not the same, I tell ya I have changed
Not the same, I tell ya I have changed
I'm not the same, I tell ya I have changed
Not the same, I tell ya I have changed

'What a freak!'
'He's quite unique!'
'How transformative!'
'Metamorphosis!'
'He's someone new!'
'He's so unscrewed!'
'It's just a phase!'
'That's not how he was raised!'

Everybody knows what's best for your life
But you have to ignore them
You have to ignore all the comments
And suggestions, and the diagnoses
You have to be you

And though I say that I have changed
I've really bloomed into the person I had
Always knew

I am the same, I tell ya, I haven't changed
Am the same, I tell ya, I haven't changed
Am the same, I tell ya, I haven't changed
Am the same, I tell ya, I haven't changed
