The Dopamine Ocean

I just want to make it, and be creative.
The way I see it and hear it, that's why I chase it.
The conduits speaking have many faces.
I wanna honor their message and be greatness
Through my pen, through my art, through my vocal tone,
But it's split so I got my bi-focals on.
Sustainability comes from the people feeling me (eh...)
It's a battle to pay my bills and utilities (eh...).
It's a balance that comes along with maturity
Where a drop in the bucket is called obscurity,
Where they listen and judge it upon its purity,
Exposing the holes in my insecurities.
But clarity comes more with the happiness.
It's not in the gift, more that I'm wrapping it.
The dopamine ocean is only half of it,
I know that you know it so let's get after it.
(Scratching)
I don't wanna be the punchline anymore.
I thought love might be a battle, this is war.
Everybody at the top's unhappy
So what exactly are we down here fighting for?

Fame and the money,
Stop teaching us that these matter most of all.
We only want to be happy,
And things are gonna change when we make the call.
Just wait and see...

(Instrumental)

It's not the finish, but the journey it takes to stay in it,
Trying to make it to the summit to finally collect winnings.
That's where the riches all exist and the happiness
Is cyclical and fresh and excited for the new beginnings.
It's okay to want to taste a little honey, but
Why would you want to live in a summit that's always sunny
And the bitter winds of change are blowing colder than ice.
People feel entitled to come intrude on your life.
Consider what your privacy and peace of mind can buy you,
Multiply it by the stress relief you feel inside you.
The top is lonely only full of those who gave their freedom,
And the goal of mostly all the rest is find a way to beat 'em.
Healing the condition of needing the recognition means
Feeling out the gravity, dealing with the adversity,
Scraping out the outer to dig inside of the inner peace,
Loving who you are, and achieving a true synergy.

Fame and the money,
Stop teaching us that these matter most of all.
We only want to be happy,
And things are gonna change when we make the call.

I don't wanna be the punchline anymore.
I thought love might be a battle, this is war.
Everybody at the top's unhappy
So what exactly are we down here fighting for?
I don't wanna be the punchline anymore.
I thought love might be a battle, this is war.
Everybody at the top's unhappy
So what exactly are we down here fighting for?
