9 To 5

Every day I wake at six
I read the paper, brush my teeth
I kiss my wife goodbye, I hug my kids
And drive my car to work through traffic
Everyone at work is friendly
Paycheck comes right on schedule
Money is good, money is plenty
So tell me why do I feel so empty?

Every evening I come home
Wife and kids tell me of their day
We eat some dinner, we watch tv
And then we all go back to sleep
This is now my life forever
The daily grind until I'm 80
No time for me, nor my family
Everyday from 9 to 5

Money is good
Money is plenty
So tell my why do I feel so empty?

Every day I wake at six
The sword of damokles over my head
Nothing left of my former self
Except this empty husk in the mirror
Everyone at work is empty
And nobody cares about me
Everyone keeps to themselves
Everyday from 9 to 5?
END
