I'll make my confession today
Prepared for the price to be paid
Today I am ready to talk
And open my soul for the world to hear my decay
I've done many things cruel and rough
But danger was never enough
I've known all my life to be raw
And to gain their respect every time I had to be tough

So I took all my chances that night
No regrets and prepared for the fight
We began the invasion at dawn
We were sure there was nobody home
And right there in the midst of my sin
Faded eyes and a light could be seen
As my blade pierced her skin

And she's gone

Soon after my crime I was caught
To justice they said I was brought
Convicted for murder and theft
Though I seemed to be tough I was crashed
By the weight of my thoughts
Her family was at the court
The judge started with the report
Their eyes pierced me right through my heart
For the first time I felt my regret tearing my life apart

And the witnesses came forth to speak
They were neighbours that moved in last week
They saw me running in their back yard
And three others but it was too dark
Say no more said the judge, Mr Seth
You are sentenced, and I took a breath
By injection to death

Oh my god
Now the time is here, now is the day
For my sins and mistakes I am willing now to pay
No more lies no more getting away
Now the time is to ask for forgiveness as I pray
Please forgive me for what I have done
For the pain and the sorrow I brought to everyone
For the darkness I forced with his knife
I'm aware I'm not replacing her smile with my life
Door unlocks and the guard calls my name
Heart is racing I know that I am the one to blame
With each breath I'm facing a fear
With each step my shame is growing
As now my time is near
On this death bed I pray to you lord
Not for me but for my son your mercy I implore
As I die in his place for his crime
Let me take all his anger
Take all his sorrow
Show him that love is what it takes
