My teacher would hold me back because
I was writing about Marx instead of listening in my lessons
I could memorise my favourite shows
But I would never really appear in classes
Competing with my girlfriends to see
Which of us could speak the fastest
I'd get into trouble for making poetry
They said was too political
My teacher told me I'd get nowhere
If I started my life this cynical

So I turned my flaws into strengths
And I started rapping on evenings and weekends

We decided to jump straight into the deep end
Sick of working full-time studying accounts and percentages
So I left, now I make money
Rapping my paragraphs instead of sentences
My dad's attitude changed when he saw
Hunnerds of pounds of change under the bed drawer
Saw I was playing festivals
