Consumer Square

Buying and selling
The truth that they're telling
"A little more and you'll feel more secure"
But the proof's in the pavement
That bakes with a fragrance
Of a promise that seems so unsure
A life of distraction
Less waiting, more action
It's that Sisyphus' stone on a roll
If you like this, just buy this
And try to deny this
And keep feeding that mouth in your soul
But what if we were wrong?
If the truth wasn't found in a store all along
Consumption is in the bones
It swallows us, follows us, wherever we go: not alone

And a seat at the table's
A myth or a fable
If that table is not set for you
It's that benchmark that's moving
Invalid; disproving
That could change with the right point of view
And if the truth is subjective
I'm the first that's selective
In those stories I choose to ignore
So just bury your doubt
In those things you can count
And that buyable Bible is yours
But what if I was wrong?
If it's not just the words, but the whole empty song
Consumption is where I'm found
It swallows me, follows me, whether in the air or the ground

So how do we set it right?
Do we stand up to fall or just lay down to fight?
Consuming means change in the air
We'll see it, then be it, right when the circle gets the square
