Act I
Act one
In the beginning there were two
Alex and Eve
They were madly in love and, only 25 years old
A little young but
At least they had each other
The only goal in mind was, to make it to the next morning in one piece
That was until, their pre-existing beliefs on what was important, became distorted then deceased
They conceived a kid
Caleb
And now there's three
Years go by
And this family
So bound by love and grace would once again find themselves at the feet of change
Alex and Eve, now 28 would feel their lives again displaced
As water breaks, as we watch Alex race
To the ER on 43rd
Where his wife lays across a table
Screaming in pain and calling his name
As doctors wait for her heart rate to be stable
And then
Four
Months after Avery's birth
Eve looked down at her youngest thinking how the hurt she endured at his intro held endless worth
I mean nursing wasn't easy but she made it work
Alex wasn't quite bought in
Responsibilities got thicker, patience ran thin
Like give up my Independence or take care of my kin?
He left
Eve alone, the hallways still filled with the scent of his cologne
Along with his laugh and his smile
Now, we find Eve
Perfecting balance, encouraging talents
Working two jobs but still the perfect soccer mom
It wasn't always this way especially in the beginning
But she cares most about her kids and the kind of life they're livin'
So she buckled down and bore her crown as heavy as it was
And in between became a Queen while raising her two sons
