This Fine Night

Time is short but the night is long
Hangin with my queen on the backyard lawn she's perfect
She laughs at all of my stupid jokes and fills my world with so much hope
She's patient with me

I don't think I've known the perfect day, but this night tells me that it is
I'm still well and the little girl who calls me daddy whispers in my ear
"You're awkward, daddy"

I wish that I could play guitar but man it's work and just so hard, don't matter
Dogs go chasing that gray squirrel near the miss it shakes its tail and chatters

Time has settled almost every score, been the healing from the times of war
Tears have fallen till it hurt no more and I'm alive again and free

Golden light and twinkled stars shine from Heavens near and far I'm breathing
I might have a wish or two but nothing in the end that I am needing

Faith and hope are the laughter of my girls, colors beautiful and true
This fine night is the fire and the silver of the moon I share with you... with you
