Bread & Butter

Issuing a message to all remaining parties
The arrogance and decadence were with us when we started

Naive to think what we could blink and overthrow a tyrant
Install our own and sit at home shining like a diamond

Leave myself with nothing or maybe just an ounce
Hide it in a mattress and watch the cheques bounce

Or leave it to the experts sitting up above
They'll only take a little cut on top of what's enough

All of a sudden in chimes a quiet voice
What if empathy and entropy took turns at making noise

Oh we can't do that. It would only be corrupted
Unlike our current system which is ethically conducted

They'd have you believe that to help is to harm
If you lend a helping hand, you might lose an arm

So sit back and watch as the cancer keep progressing
Why would they cut it out when to them its just a blessing

And I know you've heard it all before and that's that
But if you only knew how bad it gets you might act

Little dog, I always find myself back at the start
Don't pass go, don't collect 200, skip the dole
And by then, you'll know
